Hotel du Palais

"Amazing location, property is really lovely, feels like you are in a French film! The entrance is so pretty. Staff very friendly and helpful to my elderly mother who stayed on the terrace most of the day, didn't make her feel uncomfotrable for hanging around and looked after her really well. So convenient for all central Montpellier very quiet surroundings due to pedestrianised area. Breakfast was a nice French style meal, not exactly my kind of thing but great home made jams and local honey. Little single rooms were perfect for us. Room 21 was significantly bigger with larger single bed than room 20 so maybe ask for that if given the option. The lift is shut down between 10.30 pm and 8 am which is actually lovely as it is noisy when in operation. Also the hotel is super quiet indoors at night, which was much appreciated. An indulgence of towels and face cloths which was nice. Love the quirky decor and colour schemes."

"Cute hotel in a great location. The receptionist was very sweet and gave me some recommendations about the city. The room was clean and comfortable."

"The bathroom was not a separate room, but rather only separated by a thin curtain from the bedroom."

"The shower could do with a little maintenance. The jets don’t work and it’s quite difficult to get the main overhead shower head to work, the water kept coming out of the hand held shower head lower down and that doesn’t have a high fixing point to use as an alternative shower option."

"The bathroom was not that clean, lacked attention to detail. There was a large dark hair next to the bathroom sink. It certainly wasn't mine or my partner's! Come on guys, if you are charging 160 euros for a superior room it should be super clean."

"We have been visiting Hotel du Palais for many years and it exceeds our expectations each visit !! Very central for everything Montpellier has to offer but in a quiet “select” location."

"Because it was old sometimes we missed the modern conveniences but really that's just being picky because we really enjoyed the place. The only thing that we would not recommend would be the breakfast which had limited options."

"The hotel is situated on a small square in the old town, just off Place Peyrou, where you have a tram to the St. Roche station. Plenty of nice restaurants and cafés around, but no noise (I stayed on the third floor, facing the square). The café and terrace of the hotel are open all day, so there's always a mix of people around, and it's a nice place to spend some time during the day as well. Staff is super friendly. Breakfast is great (two options)."

"Very cute little hotel in a cute little tree-filled square. Loved the decor and traditional charm. Room was clean and cosy, bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Location was perfect and easy walking distance to all the central areas and landmarks. I loved the walking route from the hotel to the Place De La Comédie (main square) as it takes you through gorgeous little alleys filled with interesting shops, cafes and restaurants. Such a beautiful vibe, I happily strolled around aimlessly for hours."

"Whilst there was a kettle and mug in the room, some tea bags would have been nice. Something was mentioned about a tea room on the info sheet I was given, but it wasn’t clear where it was or how it worked, and staff always seemed rushed off their feet so I didn’t ask. Plenty of cafe’s nearby though. The WiFi didn’t appear to be working, and I had very little mobile signal in my room. They also strangely didn’t ask me to pay the room tax upon check-in, but instead after I’d checked out the next morning and left the building, the lady had to run out after me, and ask me to pay the room tax. Only minor annoyances but worth mentioning here for constructive feedback. I’d still 100% stay here again."
